Civic-Scroll
Civic-Scroll is a monthly feature of CivicSources.com that is dedicated to a singular issue prominent in our civic lives.
At the moment, we are embroiled in the news stories coming out of Ukraine, the issues surrounding Roe v Wade, gun violence, and news regarding the availability of Baby Formula. We have discussed them here previously and have created pages on each of these topics on our Resource pages.
Summer 2022
*
**The June, July, and August issues of Civic-Scroll periodically update previously covered events in Ukraine, policy and Supreme Court decisions on Guns and Abortion in America.
Civic-Scroll is our blog highlighting current issues and commentary. You are invited to comment and contribute.
Q & A
Previously, we have had Q & A 's on Ukraine, NATO, and the European Union. We have even had a brief story on the domestic influences on US Foreign Policy creation, public school options for parents and voting have also been discussed in the Q & A section.
Go to our Ukraine page to learn more about Ukraine, its history, its relationship with Russia, and recent developments. See our other page, “on how to help Ukraine“ and the February & March 2022 updates on the Civic-Scroll
The site is interactive and with each of the questions asked, we build our archive. PLEASE, write in and ask away.
This month’s Q&A is about guns and shootings in America:
How do we define a mass killing?
What is the difference between a long gun, rifle, and an AR-15?
What are the differences between Republicans and Democrats on gun control?
How much money are your Senators and Representatives getting from the NRA and other gun lobbyists?
Are there any legislative initiatives regarding weapons that are likely to pass the legislature? If so, what are they?
Perhaps the most valuable of our sections is the News & Media site where you can explore the internet, and discover a multitude of links to news, fact-checking and editorial sites of every political persuasion.
Resources
In addition to American Sources, and Geo-Sources, our Resources section, now includes pages on previously covered issues such as Ukraine, Roe v. Wade, and the scarcity of baby formula which are frequently updated.
Another of our Resources consists of primary sources and commentary on American founding documents. American Sources has a link to the complete Constitution and Bill of Rights, as well as, the text of the Federalist #10, written by James Madison in 1787. The Federalist #10 discusses the ways in which the founders anticipated dealing with extreme divisions (factions) within society-not that dissimilar to what we are experiencing today.
If you’ve got your smartphone on you, and CivicSources.com is open….you have all of the founding documents right there!
Finally, another of our Resources is something we call Geo-Sources. This is our focus on one city, state, or locale. Given the two mass shootings that have drawn our attention; we will look at Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas in our Geo-Sources section this month.
