Since Uvalde…
As of today, approximately two months after the devastating massacre at Robb Elementary, we have three associated occurances. One is the passage of the first “Gun Safety Bill, ” signed into legislation in three decades. The second is the relentless story of gun violence in America. Since Uvalde, only two months ago, there have been over 40 additional gun deaths on America’s streets. The third event which has occured since Uvalde, is that the Supreme Court has expanded gun rights.

To read about the Spring 2022 Supreme Court ruling on guns which saw the following decision: Justice Clarence Thomas, writing on behalf of the six conservative judges who make up the court's majority, ruled that Americans have a right to carry "commonly used" firearms in public for personal defence. The impact of this decision is to make acquing and openly carrying guns- more available- not less. For more on this issue, see the following: (BBC, (Supreme Court ruling expands US gun rights), John’s Hopkins, (The Supreme Court's Ruling on Guns) and Reuters, (U.S. Supreme Court throws out rulings upholding gun restrictions)
Finally, in reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision on gun rights, numerous states have either already passed or are planning on passing amended gun laws which counter the Supreme Court’s decision. Meet the Press: (see below)
