CivicSources & the War in Ukraine Issue #4

The Colors of Ukraine

Civics and “civic education is the study of the privileges and obligations as political and practical aspects of citizenship as well as its rights and duties.” (The League of Women Voters) CivicSources.com, began in January 2022, intended as a monthly investigation into the practical application of the privileges and obligations of American citizens and citizens-to-be. The site is not intended for the civic education of K-12 classroom, but rather, as 'civics for the rest of us.' This is the case whether we are young professionals, Spanish business owners, immigrant workers, or the elderly; to mention only a few of our targeted audiences. Toward this end, we hope that our readers will come to CivicSources.com first and use our site as a portal of vetted and reliable resources from which to investigate your areas of concern; whether education, school choice, curriculum, who your local or state representative is and their positions on specific policies, or social security and tax information and much more.
As of February 24, 2022, the Russian invasion into Ukraine has altered the globe as well as the early objectives of CivicSources. Rather than dive right in to a large number of local, state and national domestic issues and questions; we have focused on the news and surrounding issues on Ukraine and Russia and aspects of our domestic policy as they pertain to international affairs and US foreign policy. For example, we have created a dedicated Ukraine page, which provides numerous resources to learn about Ukraine, an addition to our Q&A section on the Ukrainian community in the United States, and even the United States involvement in NATO. We have provided numerous sources for news on the current events in the Russian invasion of Ukraine (CivicScroll and News & Media ), more than one timeline of the events leading up to the war (Ukraine page) and subsequent details of the conflict, and even pointed to news and media outlets with geo-military expertise. We are also continually updating our "help" Ukraine information.
We hope that you will find our curation of the details and parameters of the Ukrainian/Russian events comprehensive and useful. As always, we encourage questions on this subject as well as any others. Our additions to the site often reflect questions which we receive. Needless to say, history has illustrated, that activities abroad are often of lasting significance at home. For example, the fluctuating price of oil as reflected daily at our local gas stations.
Thank you sincerely to those of you who have contributed to our nascent site. We are diligently pursuing advertising, grants and investigating crowd-funding options. Join us for frequent updates on the site, twitter, Instagram, facebook and linkedIn.

Sincerely, Suzanne Rosenberg, M.Phil. Founder and Publisher - CivicSources.com contact@civicsources.com
